Victoria,
I felt compelled to write to you again after reading most of the
volume of "A Hudson View" (Summer 2009) which I received yesterday.
As a high school English teacher, I read countless amateur
publications of prose and poetry alike.  However, I must tell you that
your publication was like a breath of fresh air.  How refreshing it is
to read a publication devoted solely to the celebration of poets for
no other reason than to showcase talent which would otherwise go
unnoticed!

Each piece in this volume is unique, each voice speaks its own message
with raw emotion....yet they all unite so harmoniously to speak about
the trials and tribulations of the human condition.

Foggy has always spoken so highly of you, and now I can see
why.....Bravo, Victoria, to you and your entire staff, on a job well
done!!

Best regards,
Jill Lapin Zell

Dear Victoria:

I'm delighted to once again be published in A Hudson View Poetry Digest.  What stands out for me in this issue is the diversity, in subject matter, style and poetic voice.

I realized my own two poems came from different times and places within me:  "When the Warrior Returns" was originally written in 1976.  "Coriander, Paprika, Nutmeg" was written in April 2009.  To someone coming upon them across the page, it might seem like two poets with the same name.

Three poems I especially admire in this issue are:  Michael Cleary - "Warm"; Phillip Rosenberg - "Where I Am Going"; and Nazma Khan - "My Calcutta".

Then there's the pure voice of Shameela Abraham. Under the auspices of the Santa Rosa, CA chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), I've been helping a young Peace Corps volunteer in Steenbok, South Africa teach literature and especially poetry.  I'm forwarding Shameela Abraham's "Outdoor Siesta," which I think Jessica's 7th grade girls will especially enjoy.

So you see, Victoria, the international nature of A Hudson Review continues to expand.

All the best,  Arlene L. Mandell  5/29/2009

Victoria, Hudson View Summer Poetry Digest, Is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sensational.  I stayed up last night mesmerized by the amazing work of all the poets in this issue.  Every publication you produce is exceptional, but I think this one touched me more deeply than any before.  Each poet seemed to reach out and shine in his or her own special way, yet the blending of voices was incredible.  I also want to compliment you on the cover design and layout, It was definitely a major accomplishment.  Thank you for all your hardwork and for being the special person you are.   It's no easy feat, uniting writers internationally and producing a publication of such excellence.  Patty Mager  6/7/09
